Antonis Papatheodoulou was born in Piraeus, Greece in 1977. Since his first published story in 1999, he keeps writing and translating stories, songs and scripts for children. He has published more than fifty children’s books. Books of his have been transformed into theatre and puppet theatre plays and have been translated to Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Swedish, Galician, Catalan, Basque, English, Japanese, Chinese & Korean. His book \u201cOne last letter\u201d (illustrated by Iris Samartzi) won the International Compostela Prize for picture books 2016. His book \u00abThe city that drove out war\u00bb (illustrated by M. Delivoria) won the Greek State Picturebook Book Award for 2011 and the 2011 Illustrated Children\u2019s Book Award of \u00abDiavazo\u00bb magazine. His book \u00abThe good and the bad Pirates\u00bb (illustrated by I. Samartzi) won the Greek State Picturebook Book Award (2012) and the Illustrated Book Award of the Greek section of IBBY (2012). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Works of his have won the Non Fiction Award of the Greek section of IBBY (2015), the ANAGNOSTIS picture Book Award (2020), two Public Children’s Book Award (2019, 2020) and two Public Bookseller’s Special Awards (2017, 2020). His song “Polyvia the slipper that hated violence” has been awarded in the Arsi Fonon National Children’s Song Contest of the Orchestra of Colours in 2004. Six of his books have been selected for the White Ravens list of the International Children\u2019s Library of Munich (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
